„The day we die a soft breeze will wipe out our footprints in the sand. When the wind lies down, who will tell in the timelessness that once we walked this way in the dawn of time?“ (from a Bushman / San song, in: Coral Fourie, Living Legends of a Dying Culture)

The San in their rock art not only painted a comprehensive picture of the  wildlife and the natural phenomena of their world in southern Africa. This work, to some extent, lets us also participate in their complex myths and views of the world. This tangible history, today´s fauna & flora and the vast landscapes compose a fascinating whole.

Drylands shall include here deserts, steppes, pseudo-steppes and bushland with an arid and semi-arid climate , as well as local dry meadows and sandy heathland.  This album contains photos from southern Africa.
